Sekolah Idaman
This project has been implemented and presented in several places, including
- Festival Ekstrakurikulab, GSE-Jakarta
- Kurikulab : Moving Class, YCA-Japan
Since its inception, schools in Indonesia have never involved their participants—particularly students—in determining the structure and rules to be implemented. Schools, with their various configurations, have transformed into a predefined ideal presented to society.
The Laboratorium Sekolah Idaman (Dream School Laboratory) seeks to disrupt this conventional school construction logic. Instead of imposing a set of concepts on the community, it gathers visions and imaginations from the perspective of students. Serrum employs a method of discussion with students to explore their imaginations about schools in three aspects: culture, systems, and physical structure.
This laboratory is conducted for high school students (SMA) within the areas of Jakarta, Tangerang, and Depok. The selection of schools is based on several considerations, including the students’ socio-economic backgrounds, their cognitive tendencies, and the school’s approach to building its institutional culture.
