2003-2014 Around Jakarta, Every New Year Eve

This project is a project that is held every year by propagraphic movement (A collective propaganda through the medium of the graphic) to invite fellow artists, street artists, art collectives to respond to the issues in each year. The project was carried out on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Eve eve. These projects typically use a bicycle to get around Jakarta and execute works in public spaces around Jakarta.

Bertukar Sapa Bertegur Karya is one of the projects undertaken Serrum to collect the work of friends and exchange it frequently performed like a social gathering of Indonesian society. This project continued in Bandung in order Pasar Seni ITB 2014. We making gallery temporary by car, and open call for many people to bring the artworks, and we present as exhibition, and the end we ex-change ownership of artworks.

Gedung Idaman (Ideal building) is one art project ever exhibited earlier in the Jakarta Biennale 2013. this project working with community for a little imagination to imagine what if Buildings “essential” in Jakarta filled with artistic paintings, and into a visual entertainment for the people of Jakarta. In 2015 this project also presented in Indonesia Art Award 2015.

This work is the work in public spaces by responding objects in public spaces and in the expose with video projection approach. A video projection showing visuals of the city. The object that is projected is a bum wagon, which the owner was sleeping at the time. Setting is done in a way as if legal, using a complete equipment and road markers.

This work has been presented at Village Video Festival 2011, Jatiwangi. West Java. Indonesia.

Village Video Festival organized by Jatiwangi Art Factory (Jatiwangi). Serrum invited as one of the artist’s participant. Serrum stayed for 2 weeks and in cooperation with the villagers to undertake mapping of social problem, research of regional, and other possibilities that can be done together, and then present it in the form of video. The festival theme is “TV PROGRAM”. This theme was selected because of television information is the only alternative entertainment for the villagers in general. Television became a window for villagers to see the outside world. The festival can be a means of practicing rural communities that are in a state of panic from information, images and advertising to be subject to produce information. The festival is designed not against television, but to sort out the information and know what is actually needed villagers in everyday life.

This work has been presented at Decompression 10th Ruang Rupa 2010, Indonesia National Gallery.

This exhibition in the framework of the 10th anniversary ruangrupa. Serrum invited as one network of the ruangrupa. The exhibition present chronologically present the collaboration held between ruangrupa and other Organizations, collectives, communities, and its professional networks, local and foreign. This outline of events tries to remap the forms of cross-disciplinary collaboration occurred through art projects, workshops, exhibitions, seminars, discussions, and artistic residencies. In this exhibition, Serrum create a space for a workshop on puppet making. This practice directly involve; visitors who come Interact with tutors on the screen, but actually tutor behind the scenes.

This work has been presented at Jakarta Biennale 2009

The project is within the framework of the Jakarta Biennale 2009. Serrum respond to electric trains in Jakarta are still “wild” and irregular. Conditions in very dense and therefore some passengers choose to sit on the train as it was spacious, but the life of the bet. Serrum respond to this phenomenon with comic entered into several stations. Besides Serrum also distribute it to some of the passengers who use the K.R.L (Light Rail)

This Artwork has been presented at New Icon : Pop In Asia, Salihara Gallery Jakarta 2014

The teacher is a figure that should be intimately replace the role of parents in school although in only a few hours and several days. The sense is, Master can position itself with extra attention to the students like his own son. Moreover, the students who really need the attention. This attention can be given in any form and in any way, outside of school teaching materials in the course. Some attention is the one that will always be remembered by pupils against teachers.

Serrum back asked some people to ask about a person’s memories of the teacher. These memories into a story that will be illustrated into a mannequin on a figure of teachers who will be retold. A testimony recalled the figure of elected teachers, which even up to now, the attention that had been given still stored neatly in memory and return retold as a person’s life experience.

n 2014, when Serum was for first solo exhibition as a collective and the title is KurikuLab. The main work in this exhibition is not the usual work ready to be displayed in the gallery.  Featured works through the first stages of the process.  The showroom responded with building an event, which is used as a laboratory—a place to carry out the process of forming the work that will be exhibited.  This laboratory is the place where Serrum works collaboratively with interdisciplinary practitioners to discuss issues of education issues more broadly, emerging narratives

in education such as methods, systems, goals, etc dialogue that can be shared from multiple points of view. This laboratory seeks to create experiments artistic in uncovering other possibilities regarding education.

The Laboratory process was carried out for four meetings.  On the first day, the laboratory is used as an experimental class "Rupamatics", by combining mathematics teaching materials with fine arts.  
FGD 1 collaboration was carried out with creative teachers from various formal and non-formal schools, with discussions "teaching in a different way".  
FGD 2 collaboration was carried out with
school administrators from various educational backgrounds, with the discussion of "schools: ways and goals".  
FGD 3 collaborate with interdisciplinary practitioners who have various focuses on educational context, with a discussion of “systems and policies” central vs local initiatives”.  After the laboratory process is complete, various discussions, ideas, statements and questions become works to be presented in the form of an art exhibition. The exhibition will feature artifacts and footage of what happened during the laboratory process such as videos, photos, scribbled text, and images.
